‘Whatever you like’ in a Pan
The name Botejyu, was coined after the action of flipping over an Okonomiyaki and the sizzling sound it makes on the teppan grill. With more than 40 outlets since it opened in Osaka in 1946, this long-standing Okonomiyaki restaurant graces the Singapore shores with its 5th outlet in Orchard Central.
Okonomiyaki simply means “grilling what you like” and this translates to a dish of pan-fried crisp batter cake, topped with various ingredients, according to tastes and preferences. n Japan, although Okonomiyaki is a common item on menus, it was Botejyu who first introduced the addition of mayonnaise, which then led to the popularization of Okos and its variations.
60 years and running, you can still expect to enjoy the same authentic Osaka specialties in the relaxing atmosphere of a casual and spacious Japanese dining setting. Watch as the cooks prepare each dish with the freshest ingredients, imported from Japan, on sizzling skillets that resemble a stage on which the food “dances”. Aside from Okos, Botejyu serves a variety of Teppanyaki noodles such as Modanyaki and Yakisoba, made from thick homemade noodles, matured for long periods of time to bring out firmer elasticity and a smooth texture.
Be it the exciting varieties of Okos or noodles, the signature of Botejyu is undoubtedly their homemade sauces, which give each dish a unique taste, that one can savour only in Botejyu.
